“Without Speech, Without Silence….”
The Remembrance of Original Nature
Saadi Shakur Chishti
“When doctrines divide and ‘isms’ turn one against another, without speech, without silence, let us demonstrate. Let these demonstrations manifest everywhere. Not what we think or say but what we do shall avail.”- Murshid Samuel Lewis.
During this weekend, we will dive into two treasures of spiritual practice offered by Sufi Ahmed Murad Chisti (Murshid Samuel Lewis): Sufi zikr and Walking meditation. We will be drawing suggestions from Murshid’s extensive teaching on Sufi zikr (remembrance) and experiencing the evolution of Western forms of this profound Sufi practice over the past forty years. We will alternate zikr with new approaches to Murshid’s Walking meditations: bringing spirituality directly into the body, with eyes open.
Both practices aim to help us remember in everyday life the awareness of our Unity-consciousness, called tawhid in Sufism and “original nature” in Buddhism. Authentic action in life proceeds from this, rather than from thought or ideology. Open to all.
Non-residential to keep costs down. Bring your lunch, and we’ll go out for dinner. We’ll provide tea and snacks during the day cost: $101
